Discovering new forms of communication at Future of Magazine 2025

 

 

   

 

   

 

Lusófona University organised, between 29 and 31 October 2025, the second edition of the international conference Future of Magazine (FoM25), which took place in a hybrid format in the Professor José Araújo Auditorium.

The event was part of the conference cycle of ECATI (School of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Technologies) and brought together more than 50 participants, including keynote speakers, industry representatives, and researchers from 13 countries: Germany, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, the United States, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.

Organised by MagLab – Magazine Media Lab (CICANT – Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies), FoM25 aimed to discuss the current state and future of magazines, addressing the technical, creative, and academic challenges the medium will face in the coming years. The programme included scientific presentations, expert lectures, practical workshops, poster sessions, and interdisciplinary panels, fostering dialogue between the academic world and the editorial sector.

Among the activities that enriched the event were two workshops, the launch of two books, and the presentation of the first interconnected report, published in the magazine *Sábado* by two Communication and Journalism students.

With sponsorship from the magazine *Egoísta*, FIPP, Jerónimo Martins, and Soho Consulting, FoM25 provided a unique opportunity to share knowledge, explore new perspectives, and encourage collaboration among researchers, designers, journalists, and professionals from both digital and print publication sectors.
