Lusófona University held, on 11 November 2025 at 5:00 pm, in the José Araújo Auditorium, the Open Class “Right to a Good Name and Reputation and Freedom of Expression: the confrontation”, organised by the Faculty of Law.
The event, with free admission, proposed a critical reflection on the limits and tensions between two fundamental rights: freedom of expression and the protection of honour and reputation. In a context where the boundaries between these rights have become increasingly blurred, the session sought to promote an interdisciplinary debate on the balance needed in a democratic society.
The panel featured João Bernardo (Retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice), Francisco Teixeira da Mota (Lawyer), and Vanessa Mamedes (Lecturer and PhD Candidate in Law at Lusófona University and ISMAT).
The moderation and organisation were led by Professors André Inácio, Graça Canto Moniz, and Lurdes Vargas.
