2nd Art and Education Conference Held at Lusófona University

The 2nd Art and Education Conference took place on 3 and 4 July at Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre, organised by Arte Central in partnership with Lusófona University.

The event brought together teachers and educators, both practising and in training, researchers, cultural mediators and non-formal education professionals in a space dedicated to reflection, knowledge sharing and the critical analysis of pedagogical practices developed in school, cultural and community settings.

The opening session featured Marta Ornelas, from Arte Central, alongside Constança Vasconcelos and Inês Marques, from Lusófona University.

Over the two days, the programme featured keynote talks, panel discussions, project presentations, workshops and visits to museums and other arts education venues.

Among the keynote speakers were Aida Sánchez de Serdio, from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Raquel Ribeiro dos Santos, from Culturgest, Margarida Louro, from the Architecture Education Network, and Carlos Escaño, from the University of Seville, who addressed art education and post-digitality.

The programme also included the launch of the book Between Territories: Art Education Practices with Children, presented by its authors Ricardo Guerreiro Campos, Ana Lopes-Mesquita and Stela Barbieri.

The conference also featured several workshops, including sessions led by illustrator Carlo Giovani and Vânia Colaço, from Faber-Castell, as well as panel discussions, guided visits and poster sessions dedicated to school, community and research projects.

The event concluded with a presentation by Sara Barriga Brighenti, from the National Arts Plan, followed by the closing session, during which Faber-Castell kits were presented to the first 25 registered participants.
