Fashion Lab" Fashion Show Shines at Lusófona University - CUP

On 27 June, Lusófona University - Porto University Centre hosted the "Fashion Lab" fashion show, an event that brought together emerging talents from the fashion world and featured the participation of several educational institutions, including Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre, Texave - Escola Profissional do Ave, Escola Artística e Profissional da Árvore and Escola de Moda do Porto.

Under the coordination of Professor Alexandra Cruchinho, Lusófona University - Porto University Centre was responsible for producing the event, which stood out for the diversity and creativity of the collections presented. Students from different academic years and schools showcased their work, reflecting the practical and theoretical training they received throughout the academic year.

First-year students from Lusófona University - Porto University Centre presented their end-of-year collections, while third-year students from Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre showcased four distinct collections, ranging from three to nine outfits. All the pieces were developed within a classroom context using the university’s available equipment, demonstrating the practical application of the knowledge acquired.

The inspirations behind the collections were as varied as their creators. Filipa Farinha, a student from Escola da Árvore, developed her collection around the theme of the three elements of the ecosystem, creating pieces that represent each one. For example, her trousers symbolise the earth element, reflecting a conscious and ecological approach.

Patrícia Couto, from Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre, brought a nostalgic collection to the runway, inspired by her childhood and memories of picnics with her grandmother. The chosen colours and patterns transported the audience to a past filled with simplicity and joy, reinterpreting those memories for the present.

Alec Martins’ collection, from Lusófona University - Porto University Centre, tackled darker themes such as trauma and challenging life experiences. With a provocative attitude, this group’s collection featured impactful phrases and a bold aesthetic, reflecting a raw and authentic view of urban reality.

Finally, students Mafalda Silva, Inês Monteiro and Beatriz Bairro, also from Lusófona University - Porto University Centre, presented a collection combining the lightness of water with female empowerment. The use of varied textures, such as denim, chiffon and organza, posed challenges to their presentation but resulted in a visually impressive display.

The "Fashion Lab" show not only celebrated the creativity and talent of the students but also reinforced the importance of practical training in the field of fashion, highlighting Lusófona University as a space of innovation and excellence in education.
