Honoris Causa Doctorate - Dr. Francisco Pinto Balsemão

The founder of Expresso and SIC, Francisco Pinto Balsemão, received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa on February 15th from Lusófona University - Lisbon University Center, for having dedicated most of his life to designing a freer society , cultured and democratic, bringing Portugal closer to the development standards of Western societies.

The attribution of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the former prime minister is based, above all, on the high services provided to what the university considers as “Humanity” in a hybrid event, with transmission on Facebook by Lusófona University, which was attended by presence of the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, and other influential personalities in Portuguese and international society.

Institutionally speaking, the ceremony had interventions by the Magnificent Rector, Professor Doctor José Bragança de Miranda, by the Administrator and President of COFAC, Professor Doctor Manuel de Almeida Damásio, by the Executive Administrator, Professor Doctor Manuel José Damásio, with the Academic Godfather, Professor Doctor Arlindo Oliveira and was enlivened with two musical moments by the pianist Marta Menezes and by Paulo Sargente who sang the Anthem of the Lusófona University.

We highlight the speech of the new Doctor Honoris Causa Francisco Pinto Balsemão who defended fair societies, freedom, education and the future with Artificial Intelligence.
