Lusófona University opens academic year with debate on education and citizenship
The Institute of Education of FCSEA began the academic year with a lecture on democratic ethics and the role of the school in civic formation

The Institute of Education of the FCSEA – Faculty of Social Sciences, Education, and Administration, of Lusófona University officially opened the 2025–2026 academic year on 15 October. The ceremony was attended by António Teodoro, Director of the Institute, António Costa Pinto, Director of FCSEA, and José Bragança de Miranda, Rector of Lusófona University.
The highlight of the event was the lecture/debate delivered by Cristina Gomes da Silva, professor and researcher at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, entitled “Education for Citizenship, Democratic Ethics, and the Myth of the Neutral School”. The discussion focused on the challenges of contemporary education and the importance of promoting a critical and informed school environment capable of shaping active and responsible citizens.
