Management with a human focus takes centre stage in a masterclass at ULusófona

On 14 April, a masterclass entitled “Are projects just numbers? Management with impact beyond Excel” took place at Lusófona University - Porto University Centre, promoted by the Faculty of Economic, Social and Business Sciences (FCESE).

The initiative aimed to encourage reflection on the role of project management beyond quantitative analysis, highlighting the importance of strategic decision-making, organisational impact and the creation of sustainable value. The event sought to bring the academic perspective closer to professional practice, promoting critical thinking and a more human approach to management, centred on people, processes and results.

During the round table, Diogo Cruz, Chairman of Udream, emphasised the importance of these meetings as spaces for connection and shared learning, noting that “the closer we are, the more we can share experiences, mistakes and lessons, with the hope of helping each other make better decisions and be happier”. The speaker also added that professional life should be understood as a means rather than an end in itself, arguing that its true purpose lies in “building meaningful relationships and being able to make a difference in someone’s life”, thus reinforcing the importance of a more human and balanced view of one’s career.

The masterclass stood out for its moment of debate and reflection on contemporary management, where data is important, but human and social impact plays a central role.
