On March 17, another masterclass was held, organized by the Bachelor’s in Management and Commercial Management classes at ULusófona - Porto University Center.

The discussion began with the question “Organizational Efficiency: Serving the System or the People?”

The session featured Nuno Vasconcelos, Senior Director and Head of Public Sector Consulting at Kaizen Institute, who shared his experience leading transformation and continuous improvement projects in the public sector.

Topics included the role of leadership in fostering cultures oriented toward continuous improvement, as well as the importance of aligning processes, results, and people development.

The discussion explored how organizations can balance system optimization with valuing human factors.

Nuno Vasconcelos also shared his perspective on the impact of the masterclass for students, emphasizing that efficiency serves a purpose: achieving results while understanding all influencing mechanisms. He highlighted the importance that, in their professional future, “decisions are purely result-focused and allow them to be as efficient as possible in achieving that result”.

The masterclass provided an integrated view of organizational efficiency, helping students better understand the challenges and opportunities in building more agile, sustainable, and people-centered organizations.
