The 1st PintaVida Conference took place on 10 September at the José Araújo Auditorium.
PintaVida is a non-profit patient association founded in 2022 by Professors Maria João Cunha and Paulo Sargento, which is dedicated to empowering people through cancer health literacy.
This association adopts a holistic and collaborative approach aimed at helping to reduce the global impact of cancer, taking into account the challenges recorded in 2025, when approximately 20 million new cases and 10 million deaths associated with the disease were estimated, as well as inequalities in access to healthcare across different regions of the world.
Based at Lusófona University, the Association held its first conference under the theme "Quality of Life in Cancer", bringing together specialists and patients to develop their knowledge, exchange experiences and enjoy cultural and artistic activities.
PintaVida includes several Lusófona University lecturers on its governing bodies, some of whom also contributed to this highly enriching day for everyone who was able to attend.
