On 6 November, a solemn ceremony was held at the Agostinho da Silva Auditorium at Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre to honour Professor Fernando Santos Neves. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of this distinguished academic and reflect on his remarkable contributions to the institution and the promotion of Lusophony.

During the conference, a thorough analysis of the history of Lusófona University was conducted, from its inception to its growth and consolidation as a reference in higher education. The discussion also extended to key themes of Lusophony, addressing the strengthening of Lusophone nations, defending the rights and concerns of their communities, and recognising the geopolitical value of Lusophony in today's international context.

The ceremony, marked by moments of great emotion and reflection, highlighted the remarkable academic career of Professor Fernando Santos Neves, who played a decisive role in the creation and development of Lusófona University. His enduring impact as a leader and visionary on the institution was emphasised, as well as his contribution to strengthening cultural and academic ties among Portuguese-speaking countries.

One of the most significant moments of the ceremony was the section dedicated to Lusófona students, who delivered moving and enriching presentations, showcasing the spirit of continuity and renewal of Professor Fernando Santos Neves' work.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an award and diploma in recognition of his invaluable contributions to education and the Lusophone community. The award, with a unique design, incorporated symbolic elements representing Lusophone countries, reinforcing the idea of unity among Portuguese-speaking nations. The Lusófona University motto, "Humani Nihil Alienum" – "Nothing human is alien to me" – was highlighted as a central principle of Lusophony, a philosophy that promotes inclusion and mutual respect among all peoples.

The ceremony concluded with a highly symbolic moment, reinforcing the idea that, as human beings, no one is a stranger, and that this is the true essence of Lusophony that should be cultivated and celebrated.
