On October 17th, Lusófona University hosted a debate on responsible practices and innovative solutions in the context of sustainable marketing. The event, titled "What Does Sustainability Mean in Marketing and Business Communication?", brought together industry experts to discuss how to align marketing strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) without compromising the digital transformation of brands.

Throughout the meeting, key issues were addressed, such as the challenge of balancing customer acquisition with ethical and sustainable practices in a highly competitive environment. The experts highlighted the importance of choosing communication tools and methods that respect the environment and communities, proposing a new perspective on marketing.

The event opened with a presentation by Timóteo Rodrigues, who introduced the COMSUS project, followed by a reflection on sustainable strategies in digital marketing, led by Marco Gouveia. The specialist emphasised that, with minimal investment, it is possible to implement effective and sustainable strategies that contribute to the growth of companies.

Tânia Areias led a session on new marketing narratives, focusing on the challenges of telling stories that are both engaging and sustainable. "Sustainable communication is not impossible," she stated, advocating for the need to reposition brands and customers within sustainability standards.

Mário Alcântara concluded the panel of speakers with a talk on digital transformation, emphasising the importance of equipping companies with advanced technological knowledge for continuous and sustainability-aligned communication.

The event ended with a question and answer session moderated by Ana Oliveira, providing participants with the opportunity to discuss the topics presented in greater depth.

This meeting aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4, which seeks to promote quality education and learning opportunities, and SDG 12, which encourages responsible production and consumption, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices in business communication.
