The 5th International Congress on Ambiances, held from 8 to 11 October simultaneously in Portugal and Brazil, in partnership with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), brought together professionals, artists, and researchers from various fields, such as anthropology, architecture, urbanism, and design, to discuss the latest research and practices in the field of architectural and urban ambiances.
The congress stood out for its multidisciplinary approach, with thematic sessions and lectures focused on contemporary issues such as environmental, social, and technological changes. With the theme "Ambiances in a Changing World", the event explored how new global dynamics affect the way people perceive and interact with their environments, bodies, and senses.
This fifth International Congress on Ambiances reinforced the relevance of investigating sensory and cultural interactions in urban and architectural landscapes, encouraging the exchange of information between researchers from various fields and continents.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the congress discussed topics such as urban sustainability (SDG 11), climate action (SDG 13), and well-being (SDG 3), highlighting the importance of more sustainable cities, where innovation, urban policies, and social responsibility intersect.
