On 31 October, Lusófona University – Porto University Centre, through the FCESE – Faculty of Economic, Social and Business Sciences, took part in the launch of the National Financial Literacy Initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI), in collaboration with the financial sector supervisory authorities — Banco de Portugal, Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF) and the Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

The activities were carried out by 21 students and 2 lecturers from Lusófona University, who brought the topic of saving to different schools, promoting moments of sharing and reflection on the importance of financial literacy. In total, 248 pupils from the 9th and 12th years took part in the sessions led by the ULusófona team, highlighting the engagement, quality and educational impact of the work developed within the scope of this initiative.

With enthusiasm, curiosity and a genuine sense of purpose, the students demonstrated that learning is also teaching, bringing higher education closer to schools and turning knowledge into a tool for sharing and transformation. The sessions were marked by strong interaction among the participants, revealing the positive impact that financial literacy education can have on shaping the younger generations.

This collaboration will continue throughout the entire academic year, with new activities and projects developed in partnership with the participating schools, consolidating a joint effort aimed at creating solid foundations for greater financial awareness and responsible citizenship.

The commitment of the lecturers and students involved in this initiative is aligned with the values and goals of Lusófona University, which aims to train citizens with critical thinking, autonomy and financial awareness, prepared to contribute actively to a more informed and sustainable future.
