ULusófona professor in the final of the 34th Christof Heyns African Moot Court

Professor Catherine Maia from Lusófona University - Porto University Centre, was invited to join the jury for the final round of the 34th edition of the Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition, the oldest and most prestigious African legal simulation competition on human rights, which took place at the University of Cape Town (South Africa) from 29 June to 5 July 2025.

Bringing together 57 African universities – 41 English-speaking, 9 French-speaking, and 7 Portuguese-speaking – the competition was held in three official languages: English, French, and Portuguese. Young students from across Africa debated key topics in human rights protection before a panel of internationally renowned jurists and academics.

This event reaffirms Lusófona University's commitment to the promotion of human rights and to the training of a new generation of jurists dedicated to the defence of dignity and justice across the African continent and beyond.
