ULusófona/CICANT joins UNESCO Alliance for Media Literacy

We are delighted to announce that, as of 3 July 2025, Lusófona University/CICANT officially becomes a member of the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance (MIL Alliance), an innovative initiative aimed at fostering international cooperation and ensuring that all citizens develop the necessary skills in media and information literacy.

Joining the MIL Alliance marks a significant milestone in the University’s and this Research Unit’s commitment to promoting critical and responsible education in media and information consumption. This integration will allow us to collaborate with a global network of organisations, contributing to the development of educational policies and initiatives aimed at empowering society to face contemporary challenges such as disinformation and media manipulation.

The UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance is composed of esteemed international experts and institutions working together to advance media education in various contexts, with a special focus on fostering critical and aware citizenship. The inclusion of Lusófona University/CICANT in this network reflects our strengthened commitment to the continuous improvement of media education in Portugal and Europe, within the scope of our international engagement.
