Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The Winter School 2025 took place in January, in Monte da Caparica, bringing together cybersecurity enthusiasts, students, and professionals for an intensive week of practical training. This event, which included the participation of Lusófona University, stood out for its focus on interactive labs and realistic exercises, offering participants a unique experience to enhance their skills in the field of cybersecurity.
Over the course of six days, participants delved into essential topics such as malware analysis, intrusion detection, system hardening, vulnerability scanning, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM). Each day comprised two focused sessions, with extensive labs that allowed for the practical application of theoretical concepts using state-of-the-art tools. The final day was dedicated to a hackathon, where participants were able to apply the knowledge acquired, facing realistic scenarios that tested their problem-solving abilities.
Guided by industry experts, students had access to a customised virtual machine environment, ensuring a safe and immersive hands-on experience. Additionally, the Winter School promoted networking events and evening activities, facilitating knowledge sharing and the creation of connections between participants and instructors.
The Winter School offered specialised training modules, educational resources, and collaboration opportunities. The main goal is to respond to the growing demand for qualified professionals in the field, providing collaborative learning and engagement with sector specialists. Accessibility, security, and scalability are fundamental pillars of the training, which aims to adapt to the needs of different learning styles and organisations.
The 2025 edition of the Winter School reinforced Lusófona University’s commitment to preparing professionals for current challenges and developments in the field of cybersecurity, establishing itself as a benchmark event for those looking to excel in this ever-evolving area.
