The preparation of students for the elaboration of scientific papers that they will develop in the 2nd cycle implies the development of various skills that are worked on this CU according to our contents.

Introduction to epidemiology: History, definition and objectives; CP2.Types of studies: observational, quasi-experimental and experimental;CP3.Measures of frequency: reason, proportions and rates; CP4.Measures of association: odds ratio and relative risk; CP5.Measures of impact: attributable risk and population attributable risk; CP6.Validity and accuracy; CP7.Bias, confounding and interaction; CP8.Causality; CP9.Planning a research project on exercise and health; CP10.Writing articles on exercise and health.

    Objectives

    This course is intended that students acquire knowledge in epidemiology, measures used in epidemiology, procedures and planning research projects, with scientific rigor and intellectual seriousness. It is also intended that students acquire knowledge for the preparation of scientific papers on exercise, health and well-being. At the end of this course, students must: Understand the different types of studies and their applicability in the context of exercise and health; Understand and know how use the different measures used in epidemiology; Develop research skills in a systematic review and critical reflection; Understand the stages of planning a research project; Understand the stages for the preparation of a research paper on a topic in the field of exercise and health.

    Teaching methodologies

    Different teaching methodologies (ME) will be used: Expository classes (ME1): Resolution of practical cases (ME2), Viewing and discussion of documentaries/videos (ME3), Bibliographic research (ME4), Analysis of scientific articles (ME5) , Small group activities (ME6), Feedback information provided by the teacher about the work carried out (ME7).

    Assessment

    A avaliação é contínua e é levada a cabo nos termos do Regulamento Geral de Avaliação da Universidade Lusófona. Diferentes instrumentos de avaliação (IA) serão utilizados: 1) teste escrito; 2) Análise crítica escrita de um artigo científico; 3) Apresentação Oral

     

    A classificação final é determinada arredondando às unidades o valor da média aritmética ponderada das classificações obtidas nos momentos de avaliação. Para a aprovação a classificação final terá que ser > ou = a 9.5 valores.

     

    Os estudantes que não obtenham aprovação poderão submeter-se a exame na época de recurso. O exame de recurso (prova escrita e prova oral) incidirá sobre a totalidade dos CP.
