Presentation
Within the scope of this master's in International Relations it is important to discuss security and global governance in the enlarged international system, being inclusively two structural dimensions in collective life that have received very special attention. The challenges to international order are huge, it is vital to know them. If in the past were domestic and sovereign domains, the transposition of governance and security dimensions for a foreign plan demands, in a context of globalization, the evaluation of the needs and consequences in a world in transformation and where various risks lurk.

Uunderstand the concepts of security and governance Interpret the dimensions of globalization and its impacts Identify the major contemporary threats to peace and stability Analyze the importance of cooperation in international politics Project future threats and discuss ways to mitigate them collectively

Teaching methodologies
Teaching methodologies
Theoretical classes aiming presentation and interpretation of nuclear concepts of the subject. Participation and constructive discussion will be encouraged to students as syllabus is presented. Bibliography will be indicated in order to enrich debate in classes. Evaluation consists of the following mandatory elements: an individual presentation and comments of main ideas of an article/chapter/book that directly discusses a topic of the subject; in the end of the semester each student will make a presentation summarizing the results of the paper whose topic regards to syllabus and that was previously identified to the Professor. The absence of one of these evaluation elements by the student determines his retention.

Data a combinar entre aluno e docente. Apresentação com uma duração mínima de 15 minutos, devendo enfatizar as ideias principais e conclusões da investigação. Os alunos poderão recorrer dos meios que considerem mais adequados para a realização do exercício. Segue-se um período de comentários e perguntas/respostas
