Webinar highlights the rediscovery of natural ingredients for cosmetics and skincare
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
For thousands of years, natural source materials were the only ingredients available for skincare treatment, used in an empirical manner. The growing concern for sustainability has led scientists to rediscover biomaterials and apply bioconversion processes to develop more eco-friendly and intelligent solutions for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors.
The first Webinar Science & Education was specially organised by the Formulation Strategies and Nanosolutions Laboratory at the Research Centre for Biosciences and Health Technologies (CBIOS) and presented by Catarina Rosado, Associate Professor at Lusófona University at the School of Health Sciences and Technologies (ECTS) and researcher at the Research Centre for Biosciences and Health Technologies (CBIOS), who explored innovative research processes on the use of natural ingredients in skincare products. Non-invasive methods for testing the safety and efficacy of these compounds were also presented, providing a more reliable approach to the formulation of new products.
This was an opportunity to learn and understand how science and nature have come together to shape the future of skincare and health, ensuring safer and more sustainable solutions for consumers.
