An event to raise awareness among the academic community about the risks of a sedentary lifestyle and the benefits of physical activity

This event will address the key messages and recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding physical activity and the reduction of sedentary behaviour.
Find out more about the WHO RecommendationsOn 9th April 2025, Lusófona University - Porto University Centre will mark World Physical Activity Day with an event aimed at raising awareness among the academic community about the risks of a sedentary lifestyle and the benefits of regular exercise.
As part of the Master’s in Exercise and Health Seminars, this event aims to provide all participants with the opportunity to assess their fitness levels, understand the impacts of sedentary behaviour, and acquire practical strategies for a more active lifestyle.
Programme
Station 1: Registration and Distribution of Informational Material
- Registration via QR code
- Presentation of the event and the WHO (2020) recommendations for physical activity
- Raising awareness about the risks of sedentary behaviour
Station 2: Physical Fitness Assessment Stations
- Station 1: Measurement of weight and height to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Station 2: Strength assessment (handgrip strength and leg strength)
- Station 3: Cardiorespiratory fitness test (2-minute step test)
- Station 4: Completion of the physical activity questionnaire (QMov24H)
Station 3: Interactive Workshops and Practical Activities
With the participation of representatives from companies specialising in health and physical exercise:
- Station 1: Wisify – Technology applied to fitness assessment
- Station 2: GripWise – Measurement and monitoring of muscular strength

Station 3: Teprel – Equipment for analysis and improvement of physical performance
Event Objectives
The event aims to empower the academic community to adopt healthier habits through:
- Individual fitness assessment using simple and effective tests
- Personalised guidance on reducing sedentary time and improving health and well-being
- Interactive workshops led by specialists and companies in the sector
- Incentives for participation through a special prize draw for all registered participants who complete the fitness assessments. The prize includes an exclusive ULusófona kit, consisting of a bag, a t-shirt, a pen, and a university notebook
