    This curricular unit works on specific skills directed at the assessment and intervention processes with children, adolescents and their caregivers. It lays on the foundations of the cognitive-behavioral therapy and the systemic interventions, preparing the students to be able to exercise their future practice in different settings, such as: schools, health centers, private practice, welfare children protection services, foster care, organizations directed at youth support, among other settings. This unit gets together different knowledge acquired in previous curricular units, covering a wide range of clinical skills, whether they are transverse to many psychotherapeutic interventions, or specific to the assessment and intervention processes with children, adolescents and their families.

    Objectives

    LO1 Recognize goals, stages and specificities of the process of psychological consultation with children and adolescents LO2 Elaborate clinical interviews for the different stakeholders in the consultation process. LO3 Plan the clinical assessment process of children and adolescents, according to the developmental characteristics of the clients, the specific goals and settings of the clinical assessment. LO4 Select, administer, quote, analyse and interpret psychological assessment instruments with the objective of developing a comprehensive and dimensional assessment. LO5 Analyse and integrate clinical data collected with theoretical knowledge with empirical evidence to develop comprehensive case formulations. LO6 Recognize specificities of psychological intervention with children and adolescents LO7 Recognize the importance of the collaborative work with children, adolescents and their families
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Different teaching methodologies (TM) will be used: exposition technics (TM1), small group activities in the classroom (TM2), video visualization (TM3), practical cases (TM4), role-play (TM5), role- deferred play (in video) (TM6), teacher feedback (TM7) and peer feedback (TM8). The CU works in a continuous evaluation mode, in face-to-face basis, implying presence in 75% of classes. The final classification results: a) 1 written test (50%), b) group report of a psychological assessment, including the application of a clinical interview, different assessment instruments and case formulation to a child and caregivers (20%), c) role-play of a clinical interview to a child/adolescent and family in the first session (20%); d) oral participation during classes (10%). The maintenance in continuous evaluation is conditioned to a classification of not less than 8 values in each one of the components. Students who do not have access will have access to the final written exam (100%).
