As part of the centenary celebration of the publication of *Psicologia Judiciária* by Enrico Altavilla, Lusófona University – Lisbon University Centre, in partnership with the Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, hosted a commemorative session that brought together national and international experts to discuss the legacy and contemporary relevance of this seminal work at the intersection of Psychology and Law.
Recognised as one of the founders of Judicial Psychology, Altavilla was a pioneer in introducing a psychological approach to the study of justice systems and the dynamics involving their key actors – judges, lawyers, defendants, victims, and witnesses. His work remains a theoretical and practical cornerstone for understanding decision-making and behavioural processes in forensic contexts.
The seminar featured various contributions that reflected on the impact of the work over the past century, highlighting its influence on the training of professionals in fields such as Criminology, Forensic Psychology, and Legal Sciences. Experts revisited Altavilla’s core concepts, analysing their applicability in today’s context and the emerging challenges these disciplines face, such as the evolution of criminal profiles, new justice paradigms, and the integration of technology into judicial processes.
More than a tribute, the event served as a moment of critical reflection and future projection, underlining that Enrico Altavilla’s thinking continues to inspire and guide academic and professional discourse, remaining a fundamental pillar for present and future generations.
