On January 21, 2026, with an online broadcast, the Seminar on Literacies, Citizenship, and Emancipation took place, marking the official launch of the ROMPANTE Project, promoted by the CeiED – Interdisciplinary Center for Studies in Education and Development, with the CES – Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra as a collaborating institution.

The Seminar, which brought together national and international researchers, aimed primarily to provide a space for reflection and debate around key concepts such as mutual recognition, literacy, and emancipation. Set against a context marked by uncertainty, social disruption, fragmentation, and the reconfiguration of the roles of knowledge, technologies, and institutions, the event highlighted the central role of education for citizenship in fostering an informed awareness capable of contributing to the quality of democratic processes and practices.

The Seminar, which attracted the interest of nearly 300 participants, featured the participation of José Viegas Brás, Universidade Lusófona – Centro Universitário de Lisboa, CeiED, ReLeCo Memória, Cidadania e Sociomuseologia, Co-Principal Investigator of the Project; Alexander Gerner, FilmEU University, CICANT; Daniel Bart, Université Toulouse 2 – Jean Jaurès, UMR EFTS; Licínio Lima, Universidade do Minho, CIEd; Ana Maria Seixas, University of Coimbra – CES and Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences; and Teresa Teixeira Lopo, Universidade Lusófona – Centro Universitário de Lisboa, Principal Investigator of the Project.

The event also partnered with the Centro de Formação de Escolas António Sérgio, reinforcing the connection between academic research and educational practice.
