Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
From the 28th to the 30th of November, the Lusófona University – Lisbon University Centre hosted the Fashion Sustainability - International Conference, an international event of great relevance dedicated to discussing sustainability in fashion and related fields.
In its 2nd edition, the conference was organised by Lusófona University, in partnership with Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), with the aim of creating a collaborative space between industry, businesses, and academia. The event offered a dynamic platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences, addressing diverse perspectives on sustainability in fashion, and promoting deep reflection on circularity, innovation, and education in this field.
The event included the participation of various stakeholders, including representatives from academia, the business sector, and organisations dedicated to sustainability, organised into six major thematic areas: Sustainability in Fashion, Fashion Trends Communication, Fashion and Audiovisual for Sustainability, Tradition and Identity in Fashion, Education for Fashion Sustainability, and Innovation.
The central focus of the conference was the urgency of discussing sustainable practices and circularity in the fashion sector, one of the most environmentally impactful industries. In this context, the strategic role of Portugal was highlighted, as the country has, in recent years, positioned itself at the forefront of investment in sustainable practices within the textile and clothing sector. With this event, the country reinforced its commitment to global leadership in promoting a more sustainable future for the industry.
The conference provided a multifaceted experience filled with knowledge and innovation, offering not only lectures and plenary sessions but also exhibitions and other interactive formats. This stimulating environment encouraged the exchange of ideas, raising greater awareness about best sustainable practices and presenting innovative solutions for a more conscious and responsible future in the fashion world.
