Initiative presented research findings from Portugal within the context of a study conducted in 10 European Union countries
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The reflection on how journalists and audiences perceive journalistic integrity marked the debate “Journalists and Audiences: Divergent Perceptions”, held as part of the conclusion of the European MeDeMAP research. The project, developed over the past three years in 10 European Union countries and funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe programme, was presented on 19 February at the Agostinho da Silva Auditorium.
The session revealed the research findings from Portugal, highlighting dissonances between news producers and consumers regarding journalistic integrity, as well as an area of consonance identified by the study. The discussion also addressed topics such as European law and journalistic ethics, based on data collected from the community.
The debate included the participation of researchers and communication specialists and allowed for discussion of the contributions of the project MeDeMAP – Mapping Media for Future Democracies, focused on analysing the responsibility, transparency, and effectiveness of media production and its relationship with the vitality of European democracies.
