Lusófona Filmes at the 23rd In the Palace International Short Film Festival
Lusófona Filmes once again gains international recognition with the selection of Statues Also Die for the In the Palace ISFF

Statues Also Die (12'), a documentary directed by Thaís Fernandes, was screened in the Best Student Documentary competition at the 23rd In the Palace International Short Film Festival (ISFF), held from 25 to 28 June in Bulgaria.
Produced in 2026 as part of the DocNomads Master's Programme, the film follows four children as they interview tourists in a Hungarian park of communist-era statues. Through these conversations, the children seek to understand the meaning of memory.
This selection contributes to the international circulation of Lusófona Filmes productions and highlights the educational approach of the DocNomads Master's Programme in documentary filmmaking. The film's presence at a festival that qualifies works for the Academy Awards and the Goya Awards strengthens the connection between student productions and the professional film industry.
The In the Palace ISFF is a qualifying festival for the Goya Awards, the Student Academy Awards, and the Academy Awards (Oscars) in the animation, fiction and documentary categories.
