ULusófona students visit CERAMED to explore biomaterials
Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology students learned about prosthesis coating processes and innovation applied to modern medicine
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
On 23 October, students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering and the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology at Lusófona University visited CERAMED, a company specialising in the development of coatings for medical devices and prostheses.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the technological processes involved in coating prostheses and implants, as well as the importance of these materials in improving the biocompatibility, osseointegration and performance of medical devices.
This experience provided first-hand insight into a rapidly growing technological field, highlighting the importance of innovation in biomaterials and their applications in modern medicine.
The initiative provided an excellent opportunity to bring students closer to the industrial environment, strengthening the link between the knowledge acquired in an academic context and the current challenges facing Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology.
