Lusófona University marked the International Migrants’ Day on December 18 with the organisation of a Meeting promoted by CLAIM – Local Support Centre for the Integration of Migrants, dedicated to reflection, intercultural dialogue and the appreciation of diversity.
The initiative provided a privileged space for sharing and active listening about the challenges and opportunities of international migration, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of contemporary migratory dynamics and to reflect on the role of host communities in building fairer and more inclusive societies.
The Meeting brought together migrants, academics, professionals and members of the university community, enabling the sharing of experiences, life stories and good integration practices. Intercultural dialogue proved central to promoting mutual understanding, solidarity and respect for cultural diversity as a fundamental value that enriches the academic community and society as a whole.
By marking this date, Lusófona University reaffirmed its commitment to promoting social inclusion, human rights and intercultural coexistence, positioning itself as a space open to diversity, welcoming and the construction of a more participatory citizenship.
This Meeting was a unique opportunity to listen to life stories, exchange experiences and reflect on paths towards a fairer, more supportive and more humane coexistence, reinforcing the University’s role as an active agent in the integration of migrants.
