
ULusófona Teachers Present at Meeting of CPLP Thematic Commissions
Eloi Figueiredo and Gonçalo Calado strengthen collaboration on transport and marine affairs, promoting synergies and innovative solutions

The directors and lecturers of Lusófona University, Eloi Figueiredo and Gonçalo Calado, actively participated in the meeting of Thematic Commissions and new Consultative Observers of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), held on 28 November 2024 at the organisation's headquarters.
Eloi Figueiredo, responsible for the Infrastructure and Transport Commission, presented proposals to strengthen regional integration through sustainable transport systems, highlighting the importance of innovative and collaborative solutions. Meanwhile, Gonçalo Calado, coordinator of the Marine Affairs Commission, addressed the need for joint actions in the sustainable use of marine resources, emphasising the crucial role of CPLP countries in ocean preservation and the blue economy.
The meeting, conducted by the Executive Secretariat of the CPLP, included an intervention by the Director of Cooperation, Manuel Clarote Lapão, who underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation between the 16 Thematic Commissions and the 122 Consultative Observers.
The event highlighted the role of Thematic Commissions as a driver for synergies and joint actions, promoting a structured and effective dialogue among Portuguese-speaking countries.
