Lusófona's Medicine Proposal Brings Together Local Health and Municipality

Universidade Lusófona welcomed, on 17 July at its Campo Grande campus, the management teams of the Amadora-Sintra Local Health Unit (ULS), Fernando da Fonseca Hospital, the Odivelas-Loures Local Health Unit (ULS), Beatriz Ângelo Hospital, as well as health representatives and councillors from the municipalities directly involved in this project, namely Amadora, Lisbon, Odivelas, and Loures. These municipalities in the Greater Lisbon area are recognised for their unique demographic and social characteristics, presenting distinctive challenges for healthcare provision.

Led by the coordinating team of the Medicine programme, the meeting began with a brief progress update, followed by a discussion in which all participants acknowledged the multiple strengths of the proposal, particularly its suitability to the geodemographic context in which it will operate.

All participants reaffirmed their commitment to actively contributing to the project, bringing the most modern medical education closer to people and their communities. The meeting concluded with a shared recognition of the importance and timeliness of the proposal, whose evaluation by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) is scheduled for September.
