#MOVEFORBLUE mobilises the community for World Diabetes Day
Lusófona University and CBIOS brought the community together in a symbolic movement that promotes physical activity as a means of preventing diabetes
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
On 12 November, CBIOS – Research Centre for Biosciences and Health Technologies and Lusófona University promoted the #MOVEFORBLUE initiative in celebration of World Diabetes Day. Students, lecturers, and staff dressed in blue and took part in a physical activity symbolising the importance of movement in preventing and managing diabetes.
Professor Regina Menezes, who led the initiative, emphasised that “moving the body is caring for life”, reinforcing the importance of small daily changes such as walking more, taking the stairs, or practising sports as simple and effective ways to prevent diabetes and improve overall well-being.
The event included moments of sharing and awareness-raising, reinforcing the message that regular exercise is an essential pillar for a balanced and healthy life.
With this initiative, Lusófona University and CBIOS reaffirm their commitment to promoting health, well-being, and awareness of metabolic diseases, inviting everyone to move for blue — for prevention, for health, and for life.
