On 10 September 2025, Lusófona University hosted the roundtable “The Future of Ukraine in the European Union”, organised in partnership with MLS – Liberal Social Movement and LFF – The Land of Freedom Foundation (Ukraine).

The event took place at the Prof. José Araújo Auditorium, in Lisbon, and featured distinguished guests, including Dr. Violetta Pashutina, member of the LFF and the Board of the European Liberal Forum, who discussed Ukraine’s role in the architecture of European security and within the European Union.

The session also welcomed H.E. the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Portuguese Republic, Maryna Mykhailenko, whose participation brought significant diplomatic and institutional relevance to the debate, reinforcing the importance of the event in the context of European and international relations.

The programme included a lecture followed by a Q&A session with the audience, culminating in a roundtable moderated by Dr. Violetta Pashutina, with the participation of Jorge Botelho Moniz (Professor at Lusófona University), Ricardo Silvestre (MLS) and Carla Rodrigues (CNN Portugal, journalist and war correspondent in Ukraine).

The debate enabled students of Political Science and International Relations to deepen their understanding of the political and social challenges shaping Ukraine’s future within the European context.
