ULusófona hosts Mental Health research meeting

On 15 and 16 June, Lusófona University - Porto University Centre hosted the meeting of the European Network for Bipolar and Emotion Regulation (ENBER), an international network dedicated to the study of bipolar disorder and emotion regulation.

Over the course of the two-day meeting, participants presented ongoing research projects and discussed key topics related to bipolar disorder, psychosis and emotional dysregulation. They also explored new research initiatives, identified funding opportunities and defined strategic priorities for the future development and consolidation of the collaborative network.

Diogo Carreiras, the lecturer responsible for organising the meeting, explained that its main objective was “to promote knowledge sharing and strengthen international collaboration between researchers and clinicians”, highlighting the importance of creating a space that brings scientific research and clinical practice closer together, enabling discussion of current challenges and the development of projects capable of improving mental health interventions.

The event was organised in response to the need for a collaborative, interdisciplinary and international approach, recognising that understanding and addressing emotion regulation benefits not only from rigorous research but also from sensitivity to people’s lived experiences, thereby promoting more effective, inclusive and context-sensitive clinical practices.
