ULusófona lecturer takes part in the CPLP Race - Together Against Hunger

Professor João Borges da Cunha, Ph.D. in Architecture and lecturer at Lusófona University, took part prominently in the 6th edition of the initiative "CPLP Race – Together Against Hunger", held on 31 May at Parque do Jamor, in Oeiras.

Representing Lusófona University as a member of the CPLP's Thematic Commission on Cultural Affairs, Professor João Borges da Cunha completed the race in 1 hour and 7 minutes, achieving 73rd place out of 527 participants. His participation reaffirms the institution’s commitment to humanitarian, cultural, and civic causes within the Lusophone space.

The "CPLP Race – Together Against Hunger" is a cultural and sporting initiative promoted by the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), under the “Together Against Hunger!” Campaign, launched in 2014 in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The project aims to raise awareness in civil society about the fight against hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition, and reinforces the commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 – Zero Hunger.

In addition to promoting healthy lifestyles through sport, the race serves as a platform for intercultural dialogue, bringing together communities from different countries and linguistic backgrounds united by the Portuguese language. The initiative further strengthens the ties between citizens and the CPLP, fostering a spirit of solidarity and cooperation among Lusophone countries.

The 2025 edition of the race will be particularly symbolic, as it will take place within the framework of the celebrations of the International Day of the Portuguese Language (5 May), further emphasising the cultural and identity-based dimension of the initiative.
