In the latest episode of the podcast Direta Sem Café, we give a voice to one of the pillars of inclusion at Lusófona University: GAENEE – Office for the Support of Students with Special Educational Needs.

Created in 2016, this service’s mission is to ensure that all students, regardless of their physical, psychological or social circumstances, have equal access to learning and academic life. With personalised, confidential plans tailored to each student’s specific needs, GAENEE has made a difference in the lives of many students over the years.

In this episode, we hear testimonies from Professor Carlos Poiares and Doctor Marta Terroso, who are responsible for the office. They share real stories, challenges faced, and the direct impact GAENEE has had on the academic community.

From pregnant students in high-risk situations to students with reduced mobility, from temporary cases such as injuries to permanent situations such as dyslexia, the office supports each case with discretion, empathy and technical rigour.

The final message is clear: “Come and talk to us. We are here.”
