Open Courses 40 Years of the Framework Law on the Education System: Between Its Legacy and Possible Futures

Critically analyze the evolution of the Portuguese educational system, recognizing the role of the Framework Law on the Educational System in its organization and development over the past four decades. Understand the main contemporary challenges in education, considering social, political, and educational transformations and their implications for schools, professionals, and other contexts of education and training. Reflect on the relationships between education, inclusion, equity, and social justice, identifying persistent inequalities and discussing educational responses aimed at democratizing opportunities for education, training, and learning. To relate educational policies, system organization, and professional practices, developing a critical analysis of the relationships between principles defined at the normative level and their implementation in different educational contexts. To develop a forward-looking perspective on education in Portugal, drawing on contributions from conferences, presentations, and debates to reflect on priorities, challenges, and possibilities for the future development of the educational system.
