Master’s in Fashion Design and Production

My name is Cecília Maia de Aquino, and I am in the first year of the Master’s in Fashion Design and Production. I chose to study here mainly because of its strong connection with technology. During my first internship, while I was still completing my bachelor’s degree, I worked in digital fashion design and was completely fascinated by it.

When I decided to pursue a master’s degree, I did extensive research to find a programme with a strong technological focus. When I discovered that this course offered such a significant emphasis on pattern making technology, alongside other emerging technologies, that was what really caught my attention. The fashion project itself, which is fully integrated with technology, was exactly the type of project I had always wanted to undertake.

It has been far more challenging than I expected, but I have also learned an incredible amount, which has made the experience extremely rewarding. Coming from a more traditional fashion background, I had very little exposure to technology during my previous studies. I expected one thing and found something completely different. Every day I am learning, and I see this as a valuable opportunity for experimentation and growth.

That’s a difficult question. At the moment, I’m very open-minded and want to continue learning how technology can support fashion, whether through 3D pattern making or other emerging technologies. I already worked as a fashion designer in Brazil, so my plan is to continue pursuing a career in design, while remaining open to whatever opportunities may arise.
