Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Sport
Hello everyone. I’m João. I’m 18 years old. I am a student here at Lusófona University in the Sports degree, and last season I won a bronze medal here for the University.
For me, the medal at the University Championships was something new. I went mainly for the experience, to see what the University Championship would be like. In the end, the medal came, and I was very happy, of course, to represent the University at the National Competition and to bring the medal home.
The factors that contributed to my success, above all – hard work, of course.
Training sessions are very demanding. The coach is too, of course, and I feel that this also contributes a lot. Not only that, but also the support from Lusófona University, for example, with the possibility of applying for the Student Athlete Status. That helps a lot. And also the support from the lecturers in the subjects. And I think all of this contributes to my success today, both as a student and as an athlete.
My goals and ambitions for the future: To achieve the qualifying standard for the European Championship in the 50 freestyle; to continue representing Lusófona University, of course, and to bring even better results and to grow academically.
I believe this will also be fundamental for my future.
So, for students or for anyone who may wish to take part in sports at Lusófona University, above all, dedicate yourselves and be consistent. Rest as well, of course – it is important – but above all, dedication. Step out of your comfort zone and make the most of the support that Lusófona University gives you. I think this is fundamental and will help you immensely.
So dedicate yourselves, make the effort, and you will achieve everything you want.”
