  • Objectives

    Objectives

    The Immunology course will allow students to gain an in-depth view of the Immune System in health and disease. They will be able to identify the main components of the innate and adaptive systems, as well as characterize their functions and interaction. They will deepen their understanding of the response of various elements of the immune system to situations such as infections, tumors, transplantation, allergies or vaccines. In the laboratory component students will learn fundamental immunology techniques, including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and ELISA.
  • Teaching methodologies

    Teaching methodologies

    The learning process will include innovative methodologies that aim to maximize the students' participation and their acquisition of knowledge, according to the objectives defined by Bloom's taxonomy. Technological platforms available at the University will be used to apply the Jigsaw cooperative learning method, as well as in projects involving Challenge-Based Learning and Design Thinking.

    Assessment

    A componente teórica corresponderá a 70% da nota final e a componente prática a 30%.

    A avaliação da componente teórica será feita através de 1 teste (40% da nota final), por avaliação contínua através de plataformas interativas, realizada durante as aulas (15% da nota final) e por um trabalho direcionado para a comunidade (15% da nota final).

    A avaliação da componente prática corresponderá a um teste (15% da nota final) e a uma apresentação em grupo (15% da nota final).

     

    The theoretical component will account for 70% of the final grade and the practical component for 30%.

    The theoretical component will be assessed through 1 test (40% of the final grade), continuous assessment through interactive platforms, carried out during classes (15% of the final grade) and an activity directed at the community (15% of the final grade).

    The practical component will be assessed through a test (15% of the final grade) and a group presentation (15% of the final grade).
