Applicants who have not completed secondary education or equivalent in Portugal should consult the webpage with information for international students
  • For those who finished the 12th year and took the national exams
    Perform Application
    • Applicants must have completed secondary education or legally equivalent qualification.

    • Candidates must have taken the entrance exams that constitute an access requirement for each course and that can be consulted on the page of the course to which the candidate intends to apply (link to courses)

    • According to CNAES Deliberations nº 1134/2006 and 67/2007, the entrance exams are valid for 3 years.

    • Applicants will be ranked for the respective courses by assigning an application grade, on a scale of 0 to 200, calculated using the following weighting:
      50% for the final grade of Secondary Education
      50% towards the entrance test grade.

    • Candidates will be sorted in descending order of their application grades, and their placement will be made in the existing vacancies.

    • The placement lists will be made public and with the results expressed as follows: a) Placed b) Not placed c) Excluded from the application

  • For Foreign Secondary School Graduates

    (for students with foreign secondary education who wish to replace the entrance exams with similar foreign final exams)

    One of the conditions for applying for enrolment and registration in higher education is taking the entrance exams, which assess your ability to attend the course you want.

    For students who have completed a Portuguese secondary education course, the entrance exams take the form of national secondary school final exams.

    For students taking non-Portuguese courses that are legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education, the entrance exams may be replaced by final exams in subjects from those courses, under the terms of article 20-A of Decree-Law no. 296-A/98, of 25 September, in its current wording.

    Candidates wishing to apply for the Replacement of Entrance Exams with Foreign Exams

    Candidates who, under the terms of article 20-A of Decree-Law no. 296-A/98, of 25 September, in its current wording, want torequest the replacement of entrance exams with final exams of non-Portuguese courses legally equivalent to Portuguese secondary education, should submit your application toApplication Portal, and submit the following documents:

    • Document issued by the legally competent body of the foreign education system to which the non-Portuguese secondary education qualification relates, stating:
      • The final classification of the course;
      • The marks obtained in the final exams of the course they wish to replace the entrance exams, the date they were taken and the grading scale, indicating the minimum positive mark and the maximum positive mark, in the case of a numerical scale, or indicating the positive marks in descending order of value, in the case of a scale presented in alphabetical steps;
    • Document proving the equivalence of the foreign course to Portuguese secondary education, including the final classification of the course converted to the Portuguese scale of 0 to 200.

    The documents referred to in point a) of the previous paragraph must:

    • Be issued by the education authorities of the country of origin;
    • Be authenticated by the official education services of the respective country and recognised by the Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority, or carry the apostille of the Hague Convention, and the same should apply to translations of documents whose original language is not Spanish, French or English.

    Applications submitted under the 20-A will only be assessed if the above-mentioned documentation has been submitted and the set fee has been paid.

    The services have 10 working days to assess the request after checking the above-mentioned requirements.

    If the applicant fails to submit all the documents or make payment within 10 days of submitting the application, the application will be invalidated by the relevant department.

  • Applicants Over 23 Years Old

    Applicants who turn 23 by 31 December of the year preceding the examination for over-23s.

    In accordance with the law (Decree-Law 64/2006 – regulating access to higher education for over-23s), these tests are intended to assess the ability of applicants over 23 to undertake a bachelor's degree course at a higher education institution. The assessment of all applicants includes:

    • Evaluation of academic and professional background;
    • An interview to assess the applicant’s motivations;
    • A theoretical and/or practical test to evaluate the knowledge and skills essential for entry into higher education.

    NOTE: THE TEST IS VALID ONLY FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR IN WHICH THE APPLICATION IS MADE.

    YOU DON'T NEED TO BE A HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENT TO ATTEND OUR SUBJECTS!

    Considering the entry into force of new legislation, namely the amendment imposed by Decree-Law No. 65/2018, of August 16, which amends Decree-Law No. 74/2006, of March 24, the possibility of enrolling in isolated disciplines was established, by any interested party, with the guarantee, in case of approval, of certification and even of accreditation, if and when they enroll in a course that integrates them. According to article 46.º-A, regarding enrollment in course units:

    1. Educational establishments allow enrollment in the curricular units they teach;

    2. Enrollment can be made either by students enrolled in a higher education course or by other interested parties;

    3. Enrollment may or may not be subject to evaluation;

    4. For registration under the terms of this article, the amounts that are fixed, in a proportionate manner, by the legally and statutorily competent body of the higher education establishment are due.
