Lecturer develops creative pedagogical practices that turn challenges into solutions to improve users' quality of life
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Cláudia Lima, lecturer at Lusófona University - Porto University Centre, in the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Design, stands out not only for her academic activities but also as a researcher at ID+. Her innovative research project, titled “Remind,” explores pedagogical practices aimed at creating playful artefacts for people with dementia. This work primarily seeks to stimulate the cognitive and sensory abilities of the users, promoting quality of life and meaningful interaction.
Since 2021, the lecturer has collaborated with Alzheimer Portugal, involving students in the design of customised projects that meet the needs and preferences of the users. This collaboration not only enriches the practical training of the students but also results in empathetic and effective design solutions.
Cláudia Lima complements her research with a hands-on approach, volunteering weekly with people with dementia. This direct experience allows her to deeply understand the challenges and needs of the users, insights that are subsequently integrated into her teaching process.
