Ana Pérez-Quiroga was born in 1960 in the city of Coimbra and became a visual artist, performer, and filmmaker who lives and works in Lisbon. She holds a PhD in Contemporary Art from the University of Coimbra, a Master’s in Visual Arts from the University of Évora, and a degree in Sculpture from the University of Lisbon.
She is also a researcher at CHAIA – Centre for Art History and Artistic Research at the University of Évora, and a Postdoctoral and Doctoral fellow of the FCT, demonstrating a deep commitment to research and artistic creation.
Her artistic practice, materialised in installations, objects, photography, textiles, performance, and film, explores central themes such as everyday life and its mapping, the role of common objects in constructing self-representation, identity and gender issues, memory, and post-memory.
Pérez-Quiroga has exhibited regularly since 1999. She has held solo exhibitions at MAAT, MNAC – National Museum of Contemporary Art, and the National Museum of Ancient Art (Lisbon). Her work has also been featured in international group exhibitions, namely at the China World Art Museum (Beijing), Salamanca Art Center (Spain), and Villa Savoye - Le Corbusier (France).
She has been recognised with awards such as the "Best Visual Arts Exhibition of 2014" from the Portuguese Society of Authors (SPA) and the "Artistic Project 2022" from the Millennium BCP Foundation. Her works are part of several notable public and private collections in Portugal, including the Portuguese State Contemporary Art Collection and the collections of the EDP Foundation and Culturgest.
