One of the main environmental objectives of Universidade Lusófona is to transform the campus into a greener and more sustainable environment. In this sense, over the last few years, the University has implemented several environmental initiatives, such as the creation of recycling points, the installation of a production unit for self-consumption and the promotion of awareness-raising actions with a view to changing attitudes and behaviors .
Since 2021, the University has intensified the implementation of environmental measures with the aim of making the campus even more sustainable. To achieve this goal, the Faculty of Engineering of Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Lisboa formalized its candidacy for the Eco-Escolas program. This project is coordinated by an Eco-Council, made up of students, teachers and collaborators from the Faculty of Engineering and the University's central services, under the leadership of professors Joana Lage and Elisabete Maurício.
The intention is to involve the entire academic community, promoting improvement actions and environmental awareness. From the beginning of the project to the present, several initiatives have been carried out, with the collaboration and active participation of students, teachers and collaborators. The main areas of intervention cover energy, water, waste, outdoor spaces and air quality.
In October of the same year, the Faculty of Engineering was awarded the Eco-Schools Flag for the first time, which symbolizes the academic community's commitment to sustainability.
