Master's and Doctoral Applications

The holders of higher education courses from non-Portuguese higher education institutions may apply for Master's or PhDs in Lusófona University.

Students who do not have Portuguese nationality to apply for master's and/or doctoral programs must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Have a degree course (for master's candidates) or master's degree (for doctoral candidates);

  • Submit the documentation listed below;

  • Diplomas and certificates must show the circumstances of their issuance in a reliable way and must be authenticated by the Portuguese Consulate in the issuing country or, where applicable, apostilled, under the terms of the Hague Convention and translated into the Portuguese language by a sworn translator when written in a language other than Portuguese, Spanish, French or English.

Documentation to be delivered for Masters

  • Copy of passport;

  • Graduate Diploma (Certificates attesting to the degree);

  • Certificates attesting to the approval of courses not awarding a degree, but taught in higher education institutions, national or foreign, in the area of the master's degree;

  • Graduate Academic Transcript;

  • Curriculum Vitae, dated and signed, preferably in a DeGóis, FCT-SIG or similar model;

  • Motivation letter for the course (applicable to the Masters of the School of Economic and Organizational Sciences);

Applicable to the 2nd cycles of Film Studies and Animation Arts at Lusófona University - University Center Lisbon:

Individual portfolio that allows you to assess the candidate's artistic and professional path as well as the relevance of his past experience. This portfolio should preferably be delivered in digital format – applicable to the 2nd Cycle of Film Studies and Animation Arts

Individual project containing a note of intentions, synopsis and other elements that the candidate considers relevant regarding an original concept for the production of a feature-length cinematographic work - applicable to the 2nd cycle of Cinematographic Studies

Documentation to be delivered for PhDs

  • Copy of passport;

  • Master's Degree (Certificates attesting to the degree);

  • Certificates attesting to the approval of courses not awarding a degree, but given in higher education institutions, national or foreign, in the area of the doctorate;

  • Motivation letter, which briefly expresses the reasons for carrying out the study cycle;

  • School history of the master's degree and degree;

  • Curriculum Vitae, dated and signed, preferably in a DeGóis, FCT-SIG or similar model;

  • Copies of the candidate's scientific works;

Thesis Pre-Project (applicable to PhD courses in Urbanism, Museology, Media Art, Architecture and Communication Sciences and to all PhDs in the case of application to the scholarship program.
