Non-Portuguese students who wish to enter the Lusófona University can apply for Undergraduate, Masters or Doctorate courses.

International students may apply for enrollment and enrollment in the study cycles at Lusófona University:

Holders of a qualification that gives access to higher education, understood as any diploma or certificate issued by a competent authority that attests to the approval of a teaching program and gives them the right to apply and be able to enter higher education in the country in which has been conferred;

Holders of a Portuguese secondary education diploma or legally equivalent qualification.

For the purposes of entering the respective cycle of studies, international students have:

Complete the internal entrance exams required for the course they intend to attend. The dates and study programs of the exams are defined annually by the university

Knowledge of the language or languages in which the teaching will be given;

Compliance with the prerequisites, where applicable, under the terms of the applicable legislation.

The Contest for International Students applies to students outside the European Union who do not hold a university degree and wish to attend a Bachelor Degree or Integrated Master Degree at Lusófona University.

Documents to Deliver

  • Certificate or Diploma attesting completion of Portuguese secondary education or equivalent;

  • Photocopy of passport or other legally equivalent document in Portugal;

  • Document attesting knowledge of the teaching language of the course you are applying for (applicable to candidates whose original qualification certificate is issued in a language other than Portuguese);

  • ENES 2023 form (only if they have taken the entrance exams/Portuguese national exams);

  • Declaration of Commitment of Honor subsequent delivery of the Residence Permit (which you must request when you arrive in Portugal). The declaration of commitment of honor must be submitted along with the student file on the application portal.

Only for candidates for the Degree in Physical Education and Sports: Medical Statement proving that they meet the prerequisite for Group E Functional and Physical Aptitude, pursuant to CNAES Deliberation No. 338/2023, of March 24 (mandatory upon registration)

NOTE:

The following are not covered by the definition of an international student:

The nationals of a Member State of the European Union;

Family members of Portuguese or nationals of a Member State of the European Union, regardless of their nationality;

Those who are not nationals of a Member State of the European Union and are not covered by the previous paragraph, have legally resided in Portugal for more than two years, uninterruptedly, on January 1 of the year in which they intend to enter higher education , as well as the children legally residing with them;

Those who are beneficiaries, on January 1 of the year in which they intend to enter higher education, of the status of equal rights and duties attributed under an international treaty granted between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are nationals;

Those who require admission to higher education through the special access and admission regimes regulated by Decree-Law No. 393-A/99, of October 2nd, amended by Decree-Law No. 272/2009, of October 1st.

Relatives of Portuguese or nationals of a member state of the European Union, regardless of their nationality:

The spouse of a Union citizen;

The partner with whom a Union citizen lives in a de facto union, constituted under the terms of the law, or with whom the Union citizen maintains a permanent relationship duly certified by the competent entity of the Member State where he/she resides;

The direct descendant under the age of 21 or who is dependent on a Union citizen, as well as that of the spouse or partner within the meaning of the previous subparagraph;

The dependent direct ascendant of a Union citizen, as well as that of the spouse or partner within the meaning of subparagraph ii).

Important

All certificates and diplomas issued by foreign States must reliably evidence the circumstances of their issuance and must be certified by the Portuguese Consulate in the issuing country or, where applicable, apostilled, under the terms of the Hague Convention and translated into Portuguese by a sworn translator when they are written in a language other than Portuguese, Spanish, French or English.

The documents mentioned above can be scanned and sent by email. The student must deliver the originals, for verification, to the Academic Services until the beginning of classes.

If the documents mentioned in the previous point are not delivered to the Services for verification, the Student will not be able to attend classes and the University Services will have to inform the SEF Foreigners and Borders Service that the Student is in default.
