Offering innovative/specialised training to meet the growing developments and needs of the Veterinary Nursing job market. Daytime/after-work, hybrid, online and face-to-face classes allow students to better reconcile their professional and working lives, giving them the flexibility to study, acquire and deepen their knowledge while practising their profession on a daily basis. The course, with its hands-on training, is organised into 1.5 years. The 1st year includes theoretical, theoretical-practical and practical components, with the aim of deepening knowledge in Clinical Veterinary Nursing. The 3rd semester is dedicated to carrying out an internship, according to the student's areas of preference, and to writing a project or dissertation.

The following are eligible to apply for the programme a) Holders of a degree in Veterinary Nursing or legal equivalent awarded by national higher education institutions in the areas of Veterinary Medicine; b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, or legal equivalent, awarded following a cycle of studies organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process, in Veterinary Nursing; c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognised by the Technical-Scientific Council as satisfying the objectives of the Bachelor's degree in the areas of Veterinary Nursing.

It promotes professional development, expanding opportunities to work in clinics, hospitals, research and teaching. Innovative in that it offers a common core of clinical competences in veterinary nursing for companion animals, horses and livestock species. It offers a large number of optional courses in all species, which allows students to focus in a specialised way on the species of their interest and map out their career progression. Advanced, hands-on, state-of-the-art training in clinical veterinary nursing for companion animals, horses and livestock species, promoting quality, efficiency and confidence in the practice of the profession, promoting specialisation in the veterinary nursing profession. Teaching is carried out by a team of qualified lecturers, PhDs, Specialists and Diplomates, and the practical components are carried out in: University Veterinary Hospitals of the Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária of Universidade Lusófona; Teaching and research laboratories with modern equipment; Clinical Skills labs with access to innovative simulators and models.
