AI for Games Master's Wins Excellence Distinctions
Two students from the Master's in Artificial Intelligence for Games received Excellence Awards, highlighting the programme's academic rigour
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Two students from the Master's in Artificial Intelligence for Games at Lusófona University, Rafael José and Rafael Manjua, have been awarded Academic Excellence Awards.
The ceremony recognised the highest-performing students across all master's programmes. The award recipients belong to a cohort of just four students, meaning that half of the current class received this distinction while competing alongside students from much larger master's programmes across a wide range of academic disciplines.
The awards were presented during the annual academic ceremony at Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre.
A Specialised Programme at the Intersection of AI and Interactive Entertainment
The Master's in Artificial Intelligence for Games is one of the few programmes in Europe dedicated to the application of artificial intelligence techniques to game development. The curriculum covers procedural content generation, player modelling, computational creativity, reinforcement learning and autonomous agent design, equipping students with skills that extend beyond the games industry into areas such as robotics, simulation, data-driven personalisation and adaptive systems.
Designed as a part-time evening programme, with classes held from Monday to Thursday between 6:30 pm and 10:00 pm, the master's is structured to accommodate professionals wishing to deepen their technical expertise without interrupting their careers.
Programme Director's Comment
"This recognition is a testament to the quality and commitment of our students. In a small cohort, every student's work is visible and every contribution matters. Seeing two of our four students recognised at university level reinforces what we have built: a rigorous, hands-on programme where dedicated students can produce exceptional work."
