CLAIM and partners explore solutions for migrant integration

Support for migrants and cooperation between institutions were at the centre of discussions during a meeting with partner organisations of Universidade Lusófona’s Local Support Centre for Migrant Integration (CLAIM). Held on 18 September at the José Araújo Auditorium, the meeting brought together nine organisations from the city of Lisbon.

Lecturer Hélia Bracons, Deputy Coordinator of CLAIM, and Isabel Gomes, a psychologist at CLAIM, led the discussion, which was also attended by lecturer Elisabete Pinto da Costa, CLAIM Coordinator. The presentation of available services was followed by an exchange of experiences and the identification of needs in supporting migrant communities. The discussion provided a clearer picture of the resources available in the city and explored opportunities for coordination in referring and supporting those who turn to these organisations for assistance.

The services presented included personalised support and the intercultural mentoring programme, for which partners were invited to collaborate in its design and in recruiting mentors. Activities promoting intercultural and interfaith dialogue were also discussed, with partner organisations encouraged to engage the people and communities they support.

The meeting provided an opportunity to present proposals for joint initiatives aimed at bringing services closer together and facilitating the integration of migrants.
