Equilibra +
Emotional Regulation Programme for Stress Management
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The Psychology, Innovation and Knowledge Service, Porto University Centre (SPIC - CUP) promotes the project Equilibra + | Emotional Regulation Programme for Stress Management, which aims at the “Promotion of Mental Health in University Students: A DBT Skills Training Programme”. It is being developed with the objective of testing the effectiveness of an 8-session DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) Skills Training programme in university students, in relation to different variables such as their level of well-being and quality of life, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
Participation in this study is voluntary and does not involve any financial compensation or other type of material incentive, and you may withdraw at any time.
If you decide to participate, you will first be asked to answer some introductory questions online, with an average duration of approximately 10 minutes. In case of doubt regarding the participation criteria, you may need to take part in an individual interview with a Clinical Psychologist from our service, duly qualified.
After confirmation that you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be allocated to one of the study groups. You may join the intervention group immediately or be placed on a waiting list, starting the programme in a subsequent edition. You will have an equal probability of being in the intervention group or the control group, and both conditions allow access to the programme, differing only in the start time.
Programme
The programme will be conducted by 2 co-facilitators with training in Clinical Psychology.
It will last 9 weeks, consisting of 1 pre-session and 8 weekly sessions of 2 hours in an online format.
Between sessions, participants will be invited to carry out some individual activities. Additionally, throughout the programme, you will be asked to complete several questionnaires at four different moments: before the start of the programme, midway, at the end, and 4 months after its completion. Each of these assessment moments will take approximately 25 minutes on average.
For any questions regarding this study, you may contact the team via the following email: spic.cup@ulusofona.pt. Throughout the entire participation process, you will also have direct contact with the team, and the necessary support will be provided. The results of this study may be shared with you by email, upon request.
