On 12 February, the Great Artist on Campus event presented the film "alheava_filme" (2006, 35’) by Manuel Santos Maia, a work that delves into collective memory and the impact of the post-colonial period.
With a documentary-style approach and an intimate narrative, the film intertwines the private sphere with politics and war, focusing particularly on the province of Nampula, in Mozambique.
Using archival footage captured in 8mm by the filmmaker’s father, "alheava_filme" questions how we preserve and reconstruct stories over time. The film exposes the tension between what is remembered and what remains in silence, revealing a memory that resists oblivion.
More than just a personal account, it is an invitation to reflect on the invisible marks of history and to give voice to what had, until then, remained unwritten.
